I overplanned for my day at work - I'm doing something new this week, and I mis-judged how long it would take today. So first I downsized an experiment I'd planned for the afternoon, then I abandoned it completely. I still had more than enough work to fill the day, though. And halfway through aliquotting the pen and strep for tissue culture medium I realised that someone had used up the last of the 15 ml tubes, and I couldn't just scrounge a few because I needed a sterile (unopened) packet. So off I stomped back to the lab to see if by chance someone had managed to go get more. Muttered "I suppose you've not bothered to do anything about the damn falcon tubes" at the culprit and stomped back down to the stores to get some. Where the stores guy promptly tried to hand off half a dozen parcels for the next door lab on me - so I snarled a bit at him and stomped back up to tissue culture with my tubes.
I did go back and get the parcels though. Never a good idea to piss off the support staff ;)
Managed to get out of the lab a little before 5, which didn't help as we'd still missed the bus - the bus just after 5 takes about twice as long during term. And sure enough we got to the main bus-stop to discover it positively hotching with undergrads. Still, made the earlier train coz it was running sufficiently late ... nearly went to Cambridge though, but realised in time that the London one was the front train, not the one I'd got on.
None of this put me in a productive mood for the evening - I'd intended to Do Stuff, like post out the stuff I said I'd post last weekend and failed to do, like put a load of laundry on, stuff like that. I did cook dinner though ... one bad thing about getting Tesco to deliver the groceries is that I find it hard to work out which chillis I'm trying to order from their names. This time round I got Scotch Bonnet chillis with a vague idea that they might be the larger, milder ones I was after. The packet had dire warnings about glove wearing and such, so I chickened and only put half the normal amount into the Jhal Frezi I was cooking. Just as well, really. It was nearly inedibly hot. But still actually rather nice, just a dinner for eating slowly.
Theoretically easier day at work. Bet it isn't, it just has that feeling to the week ...
I use the word 'though' too often.
PS. I still think we should've opened that bottle of red wine ;)
