(colours like silk, flowing like water) picture

This is a phrase that's been going round in my head all day - it feels like there's a story or poem to go with it, but I haven't found out what it wants to be yet.

Beautiful image.

The words are making me think a bit of long lengths of silk held at either end and used to make waves (in theatrical productions and such). Though that's far less natural than the feel of the words.
