Well, yesterday the only things of note were that I defrosted the freezer, played a bit of Civ and finished a book. And other bits & pieces, but mostly that. The book I finished was "Storm Front" by Jim Butcher - a book I bought with the tokens I had left over from my leaving present. It's a cross between a PI story and fantasy, Harry Dresden is a wizard in Chicago who, as well as undertaking investigations for people, helps the police solve magical crimes. It made me think of Chandler, but it's not dark enough for that, really. I liked it - I liked the way everything tied together quite neatly (though there was at least one set-piece that I felt was too obvious) and I liked the characters (though it's maybe rather obvious who's a recurring feature and who's going to have been a one-off, but I could be wrong). I'll likely pick up more of the series.

I like the Harry Dresden books very much, and have found to my great delight that they improve as you progress into the series, instead of starting strong and then heading into a decline *coughAnitaBlakecough*
