Somehow yesterday's entertainment involved drinking continuously from lunchtime till bedtime. And it wasn't all my fault!

After lunch (mmm, roast beef) we both played a bit of quake3 single player - it's kinda weird to go back to it, it definitely feels faster & more frantic than quake4. I'm playing through with the bots on Hardcore (which isn't the hardest level, but it's the one before that. Still takes a go or two for me to get through each level, so it's about the right level of challenge ;)

Then J suggested we head out to The Dove for a drink - and obviously I didn't turn the idea down ;) We only had a couple of drinks coz we had to get back for freezetag, I had Sundew (forgotten the brewery) and Whistable Naval Reserve, J had Micawber Mauldon Gold & Caledonian Deuchars IPA. We were mostly trying to go for light & golden beers, tho the Naval Reserve was darker than I'd intended.

Once back home we played freezetag with the normalusual people :) Moving to a server on the internet (thanks Gribble :) ) meant I didn't have my normal first game frustration with being unable to hit anything - so I've finally worked out that the problem was switching from internet to lan. Not so good for J though - he's deadly with the rail on lan, but not so much on a net server ...

We watched Doctor Who in the evening due to missing it on Sat, which meant we missed the last of the programs about the Edwardians that we'd been watching. Which was a shame, but Doctor Who was fun (even if I cackled at the DNA stuff, but Doctor Who science never was particularly close to mundane science ;) ).

Then more quake for me while J watched the end of Sum of All Fears on the telly - which is actually a Clancy book I've not read & don't own, surprising coz I tend to assume I've got all of them up to The Bear and The Dragon. I should maybe pick that up with some of the book tokens I've got :)

I gave up on the quake when it got to the point where I was losing people who merely ran round the other side of me :/ Don't drink & quake - you get the piss taken out of you ;)

All in all a nice Sunday :)

I like Sunday Quake 4
J has discovered the inverse of the problem I had with the rail. I used to keep missing (and still do more than I should) because I am used to InstaUnlagged. Because he's suddenly got a ping time, he needs to very slightly lead his shots, something I had to re-learn. The good thing is that I seem to be able to switch between Unlagged Quake 3 and lagged Quake 4 quite smoothly now, and I'm getting better.

You two still rule the roost though ;)

Re: I like Sunday Quake 4
Thing is, in a normal game, it just means I get frustrated and give up on the rail - switch to something else which gives better results.

It'd be good if we could fit in a few insta games on the new server, around the usual Sunday slot (since it's not everyone cup of tea), to see if I can get used to the difference.
