(no subject)

The problem with holidays is there's always more to do when you get back to work, and it seems housework's just the same ... of course, I could've done more chores over the last two weeks, but ... holidays, you know? So I spent far too long cleaning the kitchen yesterday, as once I started it became apparent how much needed doing. Never mind.

I did have time to finish "A Feast for Crows" by George R. R. Martin ... I enjoyed it a lot. It's very hard to give any sort of representative summary of it because it's so complicated, and also being book 4 of the series it's hard to avoid spoilers. But a few thoughts anyway - this book primarily focuses on Cersei and Jaime & their reactions to the events of book 3, I'm impressed by how sympathetic a character Jaime is now, particularly given his casual cruelty in book 1. Part of that is due to his changes, but part is just seeing through his eyes means one is aware of the reasons for some of his behaviour. But it's nice to see that even seeing Cersei's point-of-view doesn't make her more sympathetic - if anything I like her even less than I did before, and she's nothing like as bright as it seemed. And there's a beauty of a self-fulfilling prophecy in this book :)

Next, the new Robert Jordan. Which I have a sneaking suspicion is already overdue :/ Shouldn't take too long to read though - hopefully have time to start this evening.
