Opening Imacs
Can anyone help?

Our tech people have an Imac that they need to change the harddrive on (it's faulty apparently) and they dunno how to get in to get the old drive out ...

We don't have mac techs so help would be appreciated ;)

I find it quite amusing actually ;)

[Update: They've found their way in, but I'm not sure how ;) And now they're trying to find an appropriate drive ;) ]

With a hammer!!!

there were various pages about how to turn you iMac into a fish tank a while back, poking about on /. or google might reveal something.

[non-serious answer]
equiptment required: one Able-bodied person, one very-large hammer. preferably rubber-headed, as it leaves less marks.

technique: Hold large (rubber-headed) hammer in dominant hand, take aim at the offending component in question, swing a mighty strike and rejoice in fragmented oblivion.

note: dont forget to defragment afterward.

I have had good results using a medium-sized screwdriver and a prising action.

If you can find darkmoon around on SP today, she'll be the one to ask. She swapped out hers recently--and well then there's the fact of where she works.
