Blerg. I have the lurgi.

In other news, I went to a seminar given by a guy that I'm applying for a job with, and introduced myself afterwards ... little bit of an awkward conversation coz neither of us had anything much to say, but he did say that he'll be sorting out times/dates for interviews soon.

Oh, and random thought of the moment: Why am I happy abbreviating the word 'because' but not the word 'conversation' in the above paragraph? Bizarre.

Also, writing a complete sentence about your one use of a single abbreviated word rather defeats the purpose of abbreviating it in the first place.

True.

even more to wonder at, why coz? why not cos, cus or a more correct 'cause ?
Margaretpling on March 26th, 2002 04:48 am (UTC)
Oh, that's coz the standard one seems to be 'cos', and I like z's so I use 'coz'. I even americanize spellings of some words to get z's in them (normally just when writing by hand, not typing, tbh).

Yeah, I'm weird ;)

how do you form the Z? Do you use the straightlined z form, or the straight top section, with the curved bottom (like crossing a z with a 3)?

I generally find myself doing the latter for some reason.

The latter - though capital Z's are the former, but crossed like a 7 is crossed (if you're continental, or me). It looks nicer/odder :)

because you say coz when speaking but not conv?
Margaretpling on March 26th, 2002 04:47 am (UTC)
I might say convo though, which is the abbreviation I'd use ... but less often than coz.
